Itinerary
After collection from
the Cruise Ship or your hotel the tour begins with a drive past the historic Ferry Building along Tamaki Drive, lined with our native Pohutukawa trees (NZ Christmas tree). There's great views
across the Harbour to Devonport and Rangitoto, the most recent of Auckland's many volcanoes, this one erupted from the sea just over 600 years ago.
We briefly divert along Paritai Drive,
Auckland's most exclusive address to take in the views and millionaires' mansions. We then continue along the scenic and popular Tamaki Drive, to the waterfront suburb of St Heliers.
Enjoy sunny and expansive views across the harbour.
From St Heliers we cruise through the eastern suburbs to Cornwall Park, one of Auckland's largest parks, with it's array of native and
exotic trees and the iconic One Tree Hill. The view from the top of this second highest volcano in Auckland encompasses South Auckland and it's residential areas. This area was of
special significance and the Maori built their fortified village or Pa in craters which are still be seen.
Leaving Cornwall Park we proceed to Mount Eden, Auckland's highest volcano, for
more great views of the city, from the Coromandel in the east to the Waitakere ranges in the west, this is a must see destination for all visitors. Look down into the crater, now used for grazing
stock, and hope that today is not the day it chooses to erupt.
Finally we head back down the mountain to the beautiful Auckland Domain, another of the cities volcanoes, now the site of
many open air concerts and the location of the Auckland War Memorial Museum. If you wish you can depart the tour here to spend time viewing the thousands of items on display in one of the
countries best historic collections. If not then we will return you back to your hotel. |
