The beach is north of Piha on the same coast so we can easily combine a visit to both on a day tour.

The Coromandel

The Coromandel Peninsular is the northern end of the New Zealand mountain axis and has lots of mining and logging history. Despite its proximity to Auckland, it has a very different atmosphere away from the crowds, and is popular for those seeking a more alternative lifestyle. Drive up into the forests to see the last remaining Kauri Trees, these kings of the forest were almost wiped out by logging operations in the 1800's. Driving Creek Railway in Coromandel township, is a must do activity and provides great views over the landscape from its Eyefull Tower!  If you want to get away from it all, for the day or overnight, this is just the place to go.
