Leaving the port of Lyttelton we travel first through the garden city of Christchurch, then head north along the coast to Hanmer Springs. Situated in the foothills of the mighty snow capped Southern Alps, Hanmer Springs is an attractive year-round destination for adventure, relaxation and indulgence. Famous for its naturally heated hot thermal springs & spas, this picturesque and tranquil Alpine resort of Hanmer Springs also embraces various adventure activities including famous Jet-boating, Bungy jumping, Mountain biking, many forest walks and lots more. Finally we visit a winery before returning to the ship.

Travel north then westward to beautiful and tranquil Hanmer Springs. See our spectacular Southern Alps mountains, huge forests, rivers and rolling scenic farmland.

Situated in the unique alpine village 90 minutes drive north of Christchurch.  Hanmer Springs is a year round holiday destination offering a variety of outdoor activities, great cafes and accommodation.  In fact, the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa are so popular that they were voted BEST VISITOR ATTRACTION at the 2004, 2005 and 2006 New Zealand Tourism Awards and also received the coveted Distinction Award in 2006. With such beautiful scenery and surrounded by mountains, as if to hide this jewel-like place away, not many are prepared for the variety of adventure activities waiting to be experienced. Want an adrenaline rush, try Bungy Jumping, extra price (Thrillseekers Canyon) or Jet boating (Lower Waimakariri river) on the way to Hanmer.  At Hanmer want to relax! we offer a professional Therapeutic massage (30 minutes) Please note a choice of ONE activity is INCLUDED in your tour price, either Jet boat OR Massage.

Lunch (included) is enjoyed at the Garden House restaurant in a beautiful picturesque setting. Then relax in the soothing world class natural hot Thermal springs & pools (included).

Hanmer is home to a stunning brand new Hot pools and Spa complex nestled amongst huge native forest overlooking the mighty snow capped Southern Alps. Many Christchurch residents have holiday homes here.

This area is also fast becoming a major wine growing region. You will see sheep, Red deer farms, Alpacas, Olive Grove orchards and typical rolling scenic farmland.

After the Hamner Springs visit we then return south, stopping on the way to visit the spectacular Mud House winery to taste some of the many wines on offer ( tasting included ) before heading back through the city of Christchurch to join the ship.
