This half day tour showcases the award winning "Garden" city. We visit the stunningly beautiful Mona Vale, a Historic homestead and Botanical gardens where the Deans family from Scotland first lived when they arrived in 1868. Hagley park, a 500 acre invaluable asset to our lovely city, home to golf, tennis, soccer, rugby, opera, concerts, circus, children's teddy bear picnic and many other events hosted here with the tranquil Avon river meandering through the park. You will experience magnificent views of our snowcapped mighty Southern Alps from high above the city on the Port Hills. Your guide will provide a full commentary.

Itinerary

Christchurch is one of the most English of New Zealand, an easy-going charm with the emerging energy and verve of a metropoplis. Modern but with old English Gothic architecture combine to blend a relaxed ambiance of a small town. Often referred to as the "Garden City" of the world!

Lyttelton, the South Island's main shipping port, is an extinct volcano from 16 million odd years ago forming the stunningly beautiful Banks Peninsula. This area offers world class vineyards, the vast Canterbury Plains, sheep, dairy cows, cattle, red deer, alpacas and many adventure activities abound.

In the central city, the lovely Botanic gardens, and the beautiful tranquil Avon river meanders throughout the city, home to native Paradise ducks and other wildlife. Out west are spectacular views of our mighty snow capped Southern Alps, 10 peaks over 10,000 feet and with 7 ski fields within 2 hours drive in winter.

Our extensive tour will also take you up close and pass by typical Christchurch homes and private gardens so you can gain an insight into traditional "Kiwi" lifestyles.
