This Lord of the Rings tour is a full day and our most popular tour, it visits all of the filming locations for Rivendell where Frodo recovered from his knife attack; the Auduin River where Aragorn was washed ashore; the Gardens of Isengard, go to the Mount Victoria lookout and Hobbiton Woods where you can race the Ferry and get off the Road; Buckland Forest where the Hobbits hid from Nazgul/Black Riders; Dunharrow Rohirrim encampment. We visit the quarry used for the filming of Heims Deep and the fortified ravine in Rohan and Minas Tirith. Then to Miramar and Weta Cave for unique souvenirs.

Itinerary

This small group full-day tour also includes morning tea and lunch, exotic film locations. Also enjoy the panoramic views of Wellington City from the summit of Mt. Victoria.


Visit the Wellington film locations used for the Shire, the Gardens of Isengard, the River Andluin, Helm's Deep and Minas Tirith, and where the Hobbits raced to the ferry and hid from the Nazgul. Explore Rivendell and the riverside spot where Aragorn was washed ashore. We also visit Miramar, home to the production studios and to many of the stars while they were filming.


We visit Weta Cave in Miramar and take a video tour of Weta. Weta Workshop and Weta Digital created special effects for the Lord of the Rings trilogy and many other movies. The video tour takes you 'behind the scenes' with an exclusive insight into the creativity and imagination that goes into the crafting the art of Weta. 


You will come face to face with some of the characters, props and displays from your favourite movies in the mini museum and display area and also be able to purchase those special souvenirs to remember this unique experience by.
