Itinerary
Your guide will meet you at the ship, for a short transfer to Napier Airport where your helicopter and pilot awaits.
Boarding the
Helicopter, our flight first takes us to the Black Barn winery where we will enjoy wonderful wines with stunning views of the local area. Black Barn is a boutique winery growing all of their
grapes on a small 24 acre estate.
Then boarding the helicopter we fly up to and around the Te Mata Peak, which at an elevation 399 meters dominates the landscape of this part of
the Hawkes Bay region. Te Mata is short for Te Mata y Rongakako the face of the giant. You will hear more about this giant in stories told as we travel.
After circling the peak
we now fly down into the Tuki Tuki valley to our next destination Craggy Range, a leading fine wine maker and home of the renowned restaurant, Terroir for lunch and chance to sample more wine.
The wines at Craggy Range are made from grapes grown in the Hawke's Bay, Martinborough, Marlborough, Waipara and Central Otago, giving you an overall taste of the styles of New
Zealand wine. We will spend time here over lunch on the terrace with stunning views of the Te Mata Peak cliff face rising up behind the winery.
After lunch we board the
helicopter for the final leg of this amazing aerial tour, to fly along the Tuki Tuki river valley, undoubtedly one of the most scenic pastoral and vineyard areas in New Zealand, out over the
famous Cape Kidnappers Golf Course, one of the most dramatic golf course locations in the world.
We zoom along the coast to back Napier, flying over Napier Hill and the City where
your guide will explain how 2500 hectares of land was raised up out of the sea during the 1931 earthquake. Landing at Napier Airport we then take the short transfer back to your ship. |
