Picton is the terminal for the Inter Island ferry services that link the North and South Islands of New Zealand.  It is a bustling little port, with a modern marina for  private and charter yachts and also gateway to the Marlborough wine region, just a 45 minutes drive south.
If you want to explore the vast region of inlets [called Sounds here in NZ] then you can do so on foot using the Queen Charlotte Walkway, or for a more relaxing adventure why not hook up with one of the marine adventure companies for a water born tour along the extensive coastline.  Check out some options below.

Ship Cove Cruise
Join the ones that know. Cruise to historic Ship Cove while learning the history of the Queen Charlotte Sound from your friendly skipper. En route to Ship Cove we will call past the Salmon Farm to catch a glimpse of the NZ Fur Seals sunning themselves on the pontoons. On arrival at Ship Cove you will have the opportunity to go ashore for 15 minutes. We will then head to Resolution Bay to feed the pet fish, then Endeavour Inlet to view Furneaux Lodge and Punga Cove Resort before heading back to Picton.
