Itinerary
Small group
coach tour to the Blue Mountains, scenic train rides, bush walks, buffet lunch, waterfalls and scenic lookouts.
We depart out over the Harbour Bridge and take the new Freeway to the World Heritage Blue Mountains and passing through some small towns and villages including Richmond and Springwood.
One of the best viewing areas to the Jamison Valley is the Kings Tableland Lookout. This is a huge rocky outcrop on the cliff and is exposed to the wind and weather. In bleak or windy weather
this lookout is inaccessible. It is a great location with very expansive views over the surrounding wilderness of the Blue Mountains. There are aboriginal markings and spear sharpening grooves on
the rock which was a meeting place for many of those early inhabitants thousands of years ago. Continuing further is Gordon Falls with an easy walk to some stunning lookout locations where the
view will take your breath away. Few people come here as it is a little tricky to find which is great for our small exclusive tour group.
LUNCH is enjoyed at the Scenic World's Revolving
Restaurant, with a great selection on offer to suit all tastes.
Scenic World is the home of the Scenic Railway. This is the steepest railway in the world. There are 3 rides to choose
from; the scenic railway down over the cliff face, the Skyway which crosses the Katoomba Falls and the Flyway which goes from the top of the cliff down to the Jamison Valley near the old coal
mine.
One popular option is where you can take a ride on the new "yellow peril" Skyway across the Katoomba Falls Canyon with spectacular views 200 metres down to the valley
floor. This is the latest cable car and with a glass floor, the thrill is even more exciting. We disembark this cable car on the other side of this valley where there is an excellent, easy and
optional walk available on the Prince Henry Cliff Top Track. This fantastic easy cliff top walk leads you around the cliff face to the Three Sisters. We will tell the old aboriginal dream time
story of the Three Sisters.Taking about 30 minutes this optional walk is a photographer's dream.
Those who are not in for the walk can travel in the bus for the short drive to Echo Point,
the location of the world renowned Three Sisters. There is another excellent short walk down on to the three sisters for some spectacular views. This is the start of the Giant staircase with 1000
steps to the bottom of the valley taking well over one hour. (note this walk is not available to our group due to the time involved.) The tour then heads back to Sydney with chance to see some of
the city sights en route. |
