Departing
your city hotel or cruise ship, your private guide will lead you on a "hands on" journey into the extraordinary and magical world of Australia's unique gems. Jewellery and Gemmology are big
business in Sydney, and today a group of experts revered in their fields will lead you through the exotic world of Australia's precious and unique gems.
Our first stop for the day is the
largest South Sea Pearl grading room in Australia. Here we learn the qualities to seek when sourcing these rare gems by understanding how they are appraised and appreciated. You will see and
touch lustrous white Australian South Sea Pearls, mysterious Black Tahitian Pearls and rare gold and silver Pearls.
With the thirst satisfied, we will be treated to a private experience
at Sydney's Opal Discovery Centre. Here will gain a first hand experience into the History and hardships opal mining in Australia. Your guide will walk you through the mining process and show you
how life and limb are put on the line to discover these lucrative gems.
After this interpretation we are given VIP access to one of the largest showrooms in Sydney. You will be able to
touch, and learn about the different qualities that make these gems so valuable.
Once you have finished your morning of shopping your guide will transfer you back to your cruise ship.
