A half day tour [morning or afternoon options] offers you a chance see the best of the Tauranga region, its harbour and beaches. We offer a guided tour of the historic Elms Mission station, one of New Zealand's oldest buildings, then up to the Minden lookout for panoramic views over the harbour and kiwifruit orchards. Try some great local wines at our tasting stop at Mills Reef, plus a short stop to see a Kiwifruit orchard, before heading back to the ship along the great ocean beach at Mount Maunganui.

Itinerary

The Tour departs from the new Visitor Information centre [I-site] located inside the port adjacent to the ship.

A short drive takes us to the harbour bridge, crossing over to the City of Tauranga.  We pass the old waterfront buildings, now used for cafes and restaurants and a popular destination for visitors and locals alike.

Next stop is the Historic Elms Mission Station, dating from the 1830's, this is one of New Zealand's best preserved buildings and was home to the Rev. Brown.  You will take a guided tour through these historic buildings and the grounds. See both the original homestead and the library, the oldest free standing library in New Zealand.

Leaving Tauranga, we head north through the suburb of Bethlehem to the Minden scenic lookout.  Sitting high above the coastal plain, you will have a great view of whole area and especially the extensive Tauranga harbour.

Heading back towards Tauranga we visit Mills Reef, a well known maker of both grape and kiwifuit wines.  Try some of the produce in this Art Deco winery.

The tour will then head back to the ship at Mount Maunganui, passing along the way the famous Mount ocean beach and some of the region's most exclusive beach side homes.
