Itinerary
The tour departs from
the new I-Site [Information Centre] located inside the port adjacent to the ship. The tour takes us through the suburbs of this fast growing region, famous for its great climate and beautiful
beaches. We travel along the coastal plain, past the locations of some of the most significant Maori settlements at the Papamoa Hills to the small town of Te Puke, the Kiwifruit capital of
the world and location of Kiwi 360, our destination.
Arriving at Kiwi360, take your seats and experience a Maori Cultural Performance given by descendants of one of the Maori tribes
who settled this region of New Zealand. First the formal challenge and welcome, followed by demonstrations of fighting skills, exercises that were once used to enhance the warriors skills, plus
songs and dance including the notorious Haka, a challenge now used by New Zealand sporting teams such as our Rugby team the All Blacks.
This is a small group intimate experience, allowing
you to really feel the passion of the performers in a great natural setting.
Following the performance, enjoy afternoon tea with Kiwifruit style with time after to browse through the gift
and souvenir shop..Finally we take a guided tour of the Kiwifruit orchards aboard the KiwiCarts. Learn about this unusual fruit, its many varieties, find out what's involved in growing one of
the most healthy fruits known. Following the tour there will be chance to taste some products from this iconic plant.
At the end of the concert we then board the coach for the transfer
back to the ship, our route taking you along the magnificent Mount Maunganui beach front, past the millionaires luxury homes over looking the Pacific Ocean.
