Itinerary
Departing from your cruise ship, we drive for an hour through stunning New Zealand landscape to the headquarters of the Wet 'N' Wild rafting
company at Okere Falls on the Kaituna river; this is the only Grade 5 commercially rafted river in the Southern Hemisphere.
After a full safety briefing and training session on the river you will be taken through this awesome series of white water rapids, past the Chicken Run
[the point of no return] and over the nerve testing 7 metre sheer waterfall drop, the reason this river gets its Grade 5 rating and just one of the 14 major drops on this trip. Survive this and
the rest of the day will be a piece of cake. Photos can be purchased to prove you did it!
Next we head into Rotorua City for a well earned lunch, taking the Gondola up Mount Ngongotaha for
some great views out over Lake Rotorua, the crater lake of a long extinct Volcano. There is plenty of choice for lunch at the Skyline Restaurant [your cost] Then test your nerve and skill on the
Luge Track that runs down the mountain, there are three levels of track, but you really should go for the extreme one.
After a couple of fast downhill action runs on the Luge, we transfer
across to the world famous ZORB. You will probably have seen this on the 'Amazing Race' TV program, but now its your chance to try it. Take the direct down the mountain route for some serious
speed or try the Zig Zag route for a bit more rough and tumble, wet or dry, alone or with a good friend, this is just the thing after a good lunch!
Still up for it? Then we can add in one
of the following options to finish the day in style. Please note that these are only possible if the cruise ship departure time allows. These options should be pre-booked.
OPTION 1
Jet Boat the lower reaches of the Kaituna River, this 45 minute high speed ride up to the base of the white water rapids will certainly have you screaming for just one more 360 degree
spin. This 25 km run along the remote gorge of the Kaituna River will certainly get you buzzing.
OPTION 2
Take a Helicopter Flight over the Kiwifruit orchards, follow the Kaituna
River up the gorge for another view of this amazing landscape. A range of flight duration's are available, prices from $59.00 pp.
OPTION 3
Test your nerve even further with the
ultimate thrill, a Tandem Skydive. Located at Tauranga Airport, the jump site will give you a great view of the cruise ship berthed just 2 km away. [note: there is a 100kg weight limit on these
jumps]
At the end of the day celebrate your survival with a cold beer or glass of wine at the Mount Sports Fishing Club, over looking the harbour and just a 100 feet from the cruise ship,
the first drink is on us, you will have earnt it.
If you have still not been WET 'N' WILD enough then you can always go for a swim in Tauranga Harbour, right outside the window.
Note, this tour requires a good degree of fitness and some activities are not suitable for those under 16 years of age. Any health problems you have should be disclosed to the operator
before attempting any part of the tour program.
