Itinerary
After collection from
the Lyttleton i-SITE, you will travel through the city to the Air Force Museum at Wigram, New Zealand's original Air Force base, for a slice of NZ Military Aviation history. The museum has 28
fully restored classic aircraft, together with newly refurbished static and interactive displays that will dramatically enhance your experience, and promises to be very special.
The tour
then moves onto the International Antarctic Centre, a winner of the New Zealand Tourism Board's award for 'Best Visitor Attraction'. The Centre recreates the atmosphere of Antarctica providing an
interactive experience of Southern Continent. Not only do you see penguins, you also have the opportunity to climb aboard the amazing Hagglund, a genuine as-used-in-Antarctica all terrain
vehicle, and experience traveling across rough terrain in this unique and exciting machine. This is the only ride of its type in the world.
We then travel a short distance to
Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, another top visitor attraction, where you will experience a large variety of New Zealand wildlife, both native and introduced, and learn about the diversity of our
country. Willowbank prides itself on its conservation and rehabilitation of rare and endangered species - this is your chance to watch, touch and feed these animals and birds in their natural
habitat, including the kiwibird.
Following Willowbank, you can enjoy the Christchurch Tram with its 2.5km of track through the central city with an interesting on-board commentary. The
tour concludes with a drop off in the central city, or a return to the original pick up points. |
