Wellington City and LOTR Photography Tour WLG-8

This tour combines Wellingtons film making genius and its most popular sights. Wellington was Production Central for the making of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Be enchanted by the Wellington City film locations on Mt Victoria and spellbound by the movie making creative genius at the Weta Cave. Snapshots of Wellington is an exciting way to capture the beauty of New Zealand's capital city, while being entertained by interesting and colourful stories about the city and it's history.  See all the popular sights of this stunning city and also learn creative photographic techniques to enhance your photo collection with everlasting memories.

Itinerary

You will see Wellington city from the summit of Mount Victoria then roam the  locations of the outskirts of the Shire and the eerie darkness of Buckland Forest. Travel along the same path that the Hobbits ran to the ferry and on to the famous 'Get off the Road' scene.

At the Weta Cave you can view a DVD in a specially built theatrette getting a first-ever behind-the-scenes look at Weta and interviews with Weta co-founders Peter Jackson, Richard Taylor, Tania Rodger and Jamie Selkirk. You are given exclusive insight into the creativity and imagination that goes into crafting the art of Weta.

You may also purchase from a wide range of Weta related movie and TV merchandise including a superb selection of pop culture collectibles and graphic novels sourced from around the world, including famous brands like Star Wars, Alien, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Halo, etc.

You can have lunch at Te Papa Museum where you have an hour and a half to explore New Zealand's National Museum and dine. Lunch is at you own cost. Capture Wellington's most picturesque landmarks and learn creative photographic
techniques. Popular sights include Mount Victoria with panoramic views over Wellington's harbour, the rugged South Coast with the South Island on the horizon, both modern and historical architecture, a wide range of public art and sculptures, New Zealand's Parliamentary house also known as the Beehive, as well as features of the New Zealand film industry. You will see the carved Maori Taniwha guarding the Westpac Stadium.

Along the way your expert guide will entertain you with stories about Wellington as well as inform you of all there is to know about this wonderful city.  The photographic techniques that you learn along the way will stay with you forever and enhance your photo collection.

We take care of everything so you wont need to come laden with luggage and provisions. This tour requires some walking over easy terrain for about 15 minutes

Child rate is for 3 - 12 years
